NAB Congratulates Biden & Harris, Pai Exits as FCC Chair

In response to the inauguration of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, NAB CEO Gordon Smith said, "Sincere congratulations to President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris on their historic inauguration. As we celebrate this hallmark tradition of our democracy, broadcasters will do our part to encourage all Americans to come together to address the difficult challenges ahead. In that spirit, NAB looks forward to working with the new Administration and Congress on bipartisan policies to address the serious crises facing our nation, while helping keep our millions of listeners and viewers informed, safe and connected."
Additionally, Federal Communications Commission Chairmain Ajit Pai exits the agency today, making way for President Joe Biden to appoint an interim chair until Congress approves a successor. Smith praised the outgoing FCC Chairman saying that his "fair and thoughtful approach to regulation led to many common-sense reforms, clearing out significant regulatory underbrush that was no longer in the public interest."
