Fresno's KMJ Raises Ove $500K for Central California Food Bank

Cumulus Fresno's NewsTalk 580/105.9 KMJ recently teamed with local agriculture company Gar Bennett to raise money for the Central California Food Bank through the 2021 Feeding Families Fund Drive, and listeners responded in a big way. Even in the midst of a pandemic, KMJ listeners came through with amazing generosity - donating more than $250,000 to help their neighbors struggling with food insecurity and hunger. The annual one-day event was held on September 17th and has raised more than $3.5 million dollars and provided 18 million meals in eight years.

Gar Bennett Inc. matched every donation with 50 cents on the dollar, for a grand total of $506,647 raised through the effort. Sponsors Farm Credit and Me & Ed's Pizza also pitched in with large donations. The funds will help the Central Valley's less fortunate residents by providing more than 3.5 million meals.

"We are truly grateful for the Central Valley's generosity in surpassing our expectations to help feed our Valley families struggling with hunger," said Karen Musson, Managing Partner, Gar Bennett. "Thank you to our sponsors, growers and donors for supporting the Feeding Families Fund Drive with millions in donations and provide 18 million meals since 2014."

"I'm overwhelmed by the support of our community," said Patty Hixson, Vice President/Market Manager, Cumulus Fresno. "We can always count on the generosity of our KMJ listeners! A special thanks to Karen and Greg Musson of Gar Bennett, Farm Credit and Me & Ed's for their massive contributions and to our talented on-air team for their hard work in making this annual effort a huge success."
