Cumulus Kansas City Bags Multiple Media Mix Wins

CUMULUS MEDIA announces that its Kansas City stations and team were honored with KC Mix Awards on Thursday, October 14, 2021, at the Media Mix Banquet held at the Guild in Kansas City, MO. The KC Mix Awards are presented annually by Media Mix, a non-profit organization dedicated to connecting and supporting the advertising and media community in the Greater Kansas City area. The KC Mix Awards are nominated and voted on by area advertising and media professionals. Taking honors this year from Cumulus Kansas City are: Renee Razook, AE of the Year; Kelly Urich, Above and Beyond Award; Donna Baker, GM of the Year.

Kelly Urich, host of Kansas City's #1 Morning Show on 94.9 KCMO-FM, received the first-ever Media Mix Above and Beyond Award. The criteria for the award included: exceptional initiative, perseverance, accountability and commitment; rallies for the good of the company, co-workers and community; sustained excellence in overall job performance; and consistent demonstration of a cooperative and positive attitude.

Urich has spent much of his legendary 30+ years in radio giving back to the Kansas City community. An avid cyclist, he biked 1,200 miles from Phoenix, AZ, to Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City to raise money for Children's Mercy Hospital. This year marks his 21st year to ride in the MS 150, generating thousands of dollars in donations in the fight against Multiple Sclerosis. When the pandemic hit, Urich took his bike to the road and challenged listeners to re-stock the shelves at Harvester's and they responded beyond expectations.

Urich spends hours preparing for the 94.9 morning show with his co-host, Mackenzie. His passion and positivity are infectious both on and off the air. He is a master at the art of entertaining, an inspiration to dozens of broadcasters, thousands of listeners, and an untold number of friends.
