The NFL Alumni of Las Vegas recently honored Beasley Media Group's KOAS-FM (Jammin' 105.7) morning personality Marlon "DJ Thump" Rice with the Celebrity Ambassador title for the organization's President Leadership Council. Former NFL Linebacker Morlon Greenwood and NFL Alumni Membership Director Vincent Versher stopped by the studio to surprise him with the presentation.

According to the letter of recognition, the President Leadership Council - Celebrity Ambassadors will be composed of local, national and global professionals who demonstrate experience and influence in the community.

From surviving the streets of LA, after being a victim of gun violence, DJ Thump was able to transform his life and create a successful career, which has a positive impact on the youth through the art of music and broadcast.

The role and responsibility of this position entail implementing strategies to ramp up outreach and fundraising while leveraging relationships to advance each ambassador's brand in the community that the NFL Alumni association serves.

The award motivates and ignites a spark within DJ Thump, who said he hopes this can give hope to other kids, who grew up in similar situations like him. "There are a lot of kids that look up to me," added DJ Thump. "This honor show them that dreams are attainable. They're not just a dream, these are real goals and real things that can happen."

The NFL Alumni has a traditional mission and purpose of 'Caring for the Kids, Caring for Our Community and Caring for Our Own,' across the country. Player alumni give back to local communities by raising funds for youth-related charities through their 35 regional chapters.

The tradition of charity and caring has been around for more than 50 years with the organization raising more than $1.5 million for worthwhile causes.
