Larry Wilson Returns to Radio with Portland Buy

Former Citadel Chairman/CEO Larry Wilson returns to radio with the launch of Alpha Broadcasting Corp. The new company has agreed to acquire News/Talk KXL-AM (750) and Sports KXTG-FM (The Game)/Portland, OR, from Rose City Radio headed by Paul Allen. Terms were not disclosed. Wilson, who founded Citadel in 1984 will serve as Alpha's Chairman/CEO.
"The purchase of these great facilities is a perfect way for me to re-enter the radio business," said Wilson. "I look forward to providing the people of Portland with truly compelling radio. One of the key elements of the deal is continuing and building upon the relationships with the Portland Trail Blazers, the Seattle Seahawks, and the University of Oregon Ducks. We will endeavor to be an excellent partner and home for these legendary sports franchises."
Doug Ferber of DEFcom represented Rose City Radio in the transaction.
