NAB placed an ad in two D.C. political publications on Tuesday, Roll Call and Congressional Quarterly, thanking the nearly 300 lawmakers who have co-sponsored the Local Radio Freedom Act. The move comes as NAB representatives prepare to meet with the record industry trade group, musicFirst for the next two weeks.
The Local Radio Freedom Act is a bipartisan resolution that opposes "any new performance fee, tax, royalty, or other charge" on local radio stations for local music airplay, which is free. So far, the non-binding resolution is supported by a bipartisan group of 252 House lawmakers and 27 U.S. Senators.
