Stern Player Jailed After Missing Area Appearances
RADIO ONLINE | , , |
Captain Janks, one of the players on Howard Stern's satellite radio show, has been jailed for deceiving bar owners out of performance cash. Janks, aka Thomas Cipriano," is in jail for pocketing $350 in advances from bar owners and then never showing up for the comedy gigs. Cipriano, who has billed himself as "The Howard Stern Show's King of Phoney Phone Calls," was arrested last Thursday (4-23) on $2,500 bail.
A note on his web site says he canceled his planned 2009 tour because of medical and personal issues. Cipriano also apologized to fans and nightclubs, saying he plans to reschedule shows or refund deposit money.
Cipriano received the show appearances, in part, by telling the owners that he would promote the bars on Howard Stern's satellite radio show.
