Mark Medina is named Program Director of Clear Channel's Country KNIX-FM/Phoenix. Medina, a seven-year veteran of the CC/Phoenix team, adds KNIX programming duties to his similar responsibilities at co-owned CHR KZZP-FM (104.7 Kiss).
President/Market Manager Jeff England commented, "Mark served as our interim KNIX programmer while we conducted a nationwide search to fill the position. During that time, he demonstrated outstanding creativity and leadership. The endorsement by his fellow staff and managers to permanently install him in the post was unanimous."
Director of Programming & Operations Smokey Rivers added, "Mark has always professed a profound appreciation for country music. He was the first to raise his hand for the job when the KNIX programming post became available. Mark has done an impressive job achieving and maintaining the leadership position for KISS-FM in a highly competitive CHR market. I am confident he will do the same for KNIX among country stations."
Before joining the CC group in Phoenix in June, 2002, Medina served as PD of KOHT-FM and KRQQ-FM/Tucson. Previously, he handled afternoons at crosstown KKFR-FM and MD/nights at KHTN-FM/Stockton.
