WBZ/Boston Named Legendary Station of the Year


CBS Radio's News/Talk WBZ-AM/Boston was named Legendary Station of the Year during the 2010 NAB Marconi Radio Awards hosted by longtime Dallas radio personality and programmer Ron Chapman. WBZ beat out the likes of KBCO/Denver, KSHE/St. Louis, KSL/Salt Lake City and WTOP/Washington, DC. Citadel's Scott Shannon was named Network/Syndicated Personality of the Year.

Bonneville's all News WTOP-FM Washington, DC, took Major Market Station of the Year and News/Talk Station of the Year. Large Market Station went to KSTP-FM/Minneapolis, while KKOB-AM Albuquerque took Medium Market honors and KFGO-AM/Fargo, ND, won the Small Market award.

KGO-AM/San Francisco's Ronn Owens was awarded Major Market Personality of the Year. Doug Wright of KSL-AM/Salt Lake City took home Large Market Personality, WJMZ-FM/Greenville's Kelly Mac received Medium Market, and Leo Greco of WMT-AM/Cedar Rapids, IA, won Small Market.

Established in 1989, and named after inventor and Nobel Prize winner Guglielmo Marconi, the NAB Marconi Radio Awards are given to radio stations and outstanding on-air personalities to recognize excellence in radio. An independent task force selected finalists and ballots were sent to members of the NAB Marconi Radio Awards Selection Academy in August. The ballots were tabulated by an independent accounting firm.
