The Alliance for Women in Media names former News/Talk KFWB-AM/Los Angeles GM Valerie Blackburn as interim CEO. Blackburn is a past chair for AWM and she will oversee the organization's day-to-day operations, while the board searches for a new CEO. Blackburn previously served as Market Controller for CBS Radio/Los Angeles and left after eight years in February. She joined CBS Radio in 2006 and previously served as Director/Business Operations for Susquehanna Radio/San Francisco for six years.
"We are delighted to welcome Valerie as AWM's Interim CEO," said Chair Kay Olin. "Valerie's long-term commitment to AWM, including serving as Chair from 2010 to 2012, enables her to strategically lead the organization to advance the influence and impact of women in all forms of media."
