WMFS Inks New Partnership w/Autozone Liberty Bowl

Entercom announced Friday that WMFS-AM & FM (92.9 FM ESPN)/Memphis will be the broadcast home and media partner for the 2014 AutoZone Liberty Bowl on December 29 in Memphis. 2014 marks the beginning of a new era for the game with a new match-up featuring teams from the SEC and Big 12 Conference. The AutoZone Liberty Bowl's long-time partnership with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital provides a national platform for the mission of St. Jude, a pediatric cancer research center.

"92.9 FM ESPN is proud to officially announce our partnership with the AutoZone Liberty Bowl to further raise the profile of one of the Mid-South's most important community/sporting events. 92.9 FM ESPN (heard on 680 AM) will carry the game on Monday, December 29 at 1pm," said WMFS PD Brad Carson.

"The AutoZone Liberty Bowl is the 7th oldest college football bowl game in America and we have a wonderful hometown title sponsor partner in AutoZone," added AutoZone Liberty Bowl Executive Director Steve Ehrhart. "We also have a very strong community-based association membership, along with hundreds of volunteers who make this such a great community event. We're proud this year's AutoZone Liberty Bowl will be broadcast on 92.9 FM ESPN and 680 AM."

The AutoZone Liberty Bowl was founded in Philadelphia, PA in 1959 and has been held annually at Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium in Memphis, TN since 1965. The game has featured 59 different universities, four Heisman Trophy winners and college football coaching legends such as Paul "Bear" Bryant, LaVell Edwards, John McKay, Lou Holtz and Tom Osborne.
