RADIO ONLINE | Tuesday, October 6, 2015 |
Benztown's internationally syndicated weekend radio show "Sunday Night Slow Jams" has launched the third and new format version of "Sunday Night Slow Jams: The Throwback Edition." It joins the original Rhythm/Urban version and the mainstream CHR version. The new offering is created especially for Classic Hip-Hop stations and showcases Slow Jams from back in the day. Hosted by R Dub!, the "All Classics" show features artists like Boyz II Men, Jodeci, R. Kelly and Keith Sweat, along with special listener dedications, called "Oral Expressions."
Stations who have added the Throwback Edition of Sunday Night Slow Jams out of the box include WRWM/Indianapolis, KXJM/Phoenix, KNRJ/Phoenix, KKMJ/Austin, XHRM/San Diego, KUUU/Salt Lake City, KQIE/Riverside, KKBB/Bakersfield and KSZR/Tucson.
R Dub! said, "The Classic Hip-Hop/Throwback format is exploding everywhere. And we can't forget what an absolutely enormous part that Slow Jams played in that format and era of music. As big as artists like Tupac and Biggie were -- as equally huge were the Slow Jams. Artists like Usher, Aaliyah, Boyz II Men, R. Kelly and Jodeci were part of this format's foundation and really made this era unforgettable. If you're a female in her 20's to 40's, Slow Jams were -- and still are -- a huge part of your life."
WRWM-FM (93.9 The Beat)/Indianapolis Program Director Jay Michaels added, "Sunday Night Slow Jams has become a huge success and huge staple for 93.9 The Beat! We're #1 in every demo with SNSJ! And our social media explodes on Sunday Nights. I couldn't be more happy and proud."
KXJM-FM (Jam'n 107.5)/Portland PD Justin Riley commented, "Hashtag: WINNING! And I can make Slow Jams sound as local as I need it to. Half the time even I don't know that R Dub isn't sitting in the studio here in Portland. Don't think for a minute that this show can't sound local for you, as well."
