Madd Maxx Hammer Set to Retire from Radio

Veteran Active Rock personality and programmer Madd Maxx Hammer has announced that he will be retiring from the radio industry by years end, with a career that began in 1976 at KIBS/Bishop, CA. Hammer came to national attention after landing a post at the Z-Rock network in 1986, joining the late Wild Bill Scott for on-air and programming duties. Later he would host the national "Z-Rock 50" hard rock and heavy metal weekly syndicated countdown show.
In 1992, Hammer left Z-Rock, and joined various rock radio outlets such as KEGL-FM/Dallas, KAZY-FM/Denver, KZRX-FM/Phoenix, KRAB-FM/Bakersfield and the LoudRadio network. As well as host of the boxing talk show "Inside The Ring" on the Prime Sports Radio Network. He also enjoyed work in television, hosting many pay per view boxing events, and co-hosted the UPN hard rock music video show "Crank It Up!" in 2000.
Recently, Hammer has been on-air at DSN Radio's digital RockRadio KDKT, and a A&R rep for DSN Music's rock division. "Maxx has been in radio since 1976... I've known him since 1986, and he has been a true professional and rock radio legend," said DSN President Guy Giuliano.
Hammer will continue in an advisory and consulting role for DSN, as he winds down his tenure in broadcasting, to pursue spiritual endeavors, and deal with recent health concerns.
