The Conclave, which celebrates 42 years of educating radio broadcasters this year, has announced that it will present the 2017 Rockwell Award to John Gehron, Chief Operating Officer and Chairman of AccuRadio. Gehron will receive The Rockwell Award during The Conclave's 42nd Summer Learning Conference on July 26-28 at the Doubletree by Hilton, Minneapolis-Park Place. Since 1989, The Conclave has presented The Rockwell Award-an annual lifetime achievement award-to an individual of unquestioned accomplishment.

Gehron began his broadcasting career in 1970 in Philadelphia as Program Director of CBS Radio's WCAU-FM (now WOGL), which was the first major market radio station to try the oldies format. That success led to his being transferred to WCBS-FM in New York in 1972 to start their oldies format in 1972. Gehron later served as Program Director and General Manager at WLS-AM in Chicago, and held executive positions at American Radio Services, Infinity Broadcasting, Clear Channel Radio and Harpo Radio/XM Satellite Radio.

"The Rockwell Award honors those who have made a lasting impact on our storied industry," said Conclave Board of Directors Chair Lori Lewis. "While I have my own inspirational John Gehron story, I'd like to hear all of the other John Gehron stories running through the radio hallways. We want capture those stories on video as we honor John."

Gehron said, "What an honor to receive the Rockwell Award! I have great respect for the Conclave and how hard the board works to provide a true learning experience for broadcasters."

Prior recipients of the Rockwell Award include: Joel Denver, President/Publisher, All Access (2003); Dan Mason, Sr. Advisor Broadcast Relations, iHeart Media (2011); Erica Farber, President, RAB (2007); Ginny Morris, CEO, Hubbard Broadcasting, Inc. (2014); and Duke Wright, CEO, Midwest Communications (2016).
