Cumulus signs KXXR-FM (93X) Minneapolis Program Director Derek Madden to a long-term deal. In addition to his role as 93X PD, Madden will continue in his role as Corporate Programmer/Rock and Alternative. Madden joined 93X in March, 2015. Prior to that, he was PD for KLOS-FM/Los Angeles. Previously, he served as PD at co-owned KSAN-FM (107.7 The Bone)/San Francisco for two years. During that time, he was also host of "The Ride Home," The Bone's afternoon show.

Cumulus Media Minneapolis VP/Market Manager Shelly Wilkes said, "Derek is a great Rock PD and a terrific guy to work with. Looking forward to years of continued success with Derek at the helm of 93X."

VP/Classic Rock and KQRS-KXXR-WGVX Operations Manager Scott Jameson added, "Derek has done a terrific job with KXXR, building on its heritage as one of America's great rock stations. 93X has energy, attitude and big ratings. We're lucky to have someone of Derek's caliber piloting 93X."

Madden commented, ""It's been a true joy to work at 93X. The station has an incredible history, and a team in place that rivals any in Rock. We've had a pretty good run the last couple of years, and I'm really excited to see what we can accomplish in the years to come. Thanks to Shelly Wilkes, Scott Jameson, Troy Hanson, Dave Milner, Mike McVay, and Glenn Goldstein for helping with this deal and giving me an opportunity to do what I love."

Prior to The Bone, Madden was a fixture in Bay Area radio. He programmed KSJO-FM/San Jose, served as MD at KLLC-FM (Alice@97.3)/San Francisco, and spent nearly a decade on-air at KITS-FM/San Francisco. Madden has also previously programmed Rock stations like WXZZ-FM/Lexington, WRXR-FM/Augusta and WVBR-FM/Ithaca, NY.
