IBM Joins Company Lineup in NAB's PILOT Program

IBM has joined the National Association of Broadcasters' (NAB) PILOT program. PILOT brings together innovative companies, educators and advocates with broadcasters to advance broadcast technologies and cultivate new media opportunities. It consists of broadcasting and technology stakeholders, such as new media broadcast operators, measurement and attribution companies, advertising partners and technology providers. Among other goals, it strives to drive the creation and implementation of new technologies and solutions for the media industries.

"IBM has a long history of innovation and groundbreaking services in the technology sector," said NAB Executive VP and Chief Technology Officer Sam Matheny. "We are delighted to have IBM join PILOT and look forward to the collaboration and exploration of new media opportunities with their industry expertise. They are a great addition to our existing members working to further develop the broadcast industry."

"New technologies and innovations, including cognitive computing and cloud, are advancing the media industry at a rapid pace, bringing a new set of challenges and opportunities for broadcast organizations," said IBM Global Media & Entertainment Industry CTO Peter Guglielmino. "Together with PILOT, we're providing a framework for not only driving innovation in the marketplace but also helping industry players navigate a new landscape and accelerate their own digital transformation."

Members of PILOT have helped define areas for development of innovative technologies and services for media companies with a focus on artificial intelligence and machine learning; augmented and virtual reality; platform engagement; multi-platform measurement; the connected car; and Next Gen TV.
