iHeartMedia Extends Non-Essential Furloughs Another 90 Days
RADIO ONLINE | Wednesday, June 10, 2020 |
iHeartMedia is extending non-essential employee furloughs for another 90 days. In a memo from Chief People Officer Lorna Hagen to affected staffers obtained by RADIO ONLINE, the radio giant said the extension is due to pandemic-related restrictions that have lasted "far longer than anticipated" and have had a "significant impact" on ad revenue." Additionally, the company "will not return to full office staffing levels for some time."
The furloughs and work-from-home models began on April 4th, and Hagen said that they are still considered "temporary" and furloughed employees will be brought back "as soon as we can." Furloughed staffer continue to receive medical, dental, and vision benefits, and are eligible in most cases for unemployment.
"Be assured that should the situation change and point to a speedier economic recovery or staffing need, we will notify you and bring you back as soon as we can," wrote Hagen. "We know these are tough times and we very much appreciate your hanging in there with us."
