The U.S. Black Chambers (USBC) has revealed its acquisition of the National Association of Black-Owned Broadcasters (NABOB). In this move, the newly formed USBC Media Network will take the reins of several key entities, including the USBC Radio Network, NABOB, USBC Events and USBC Media programs and initiatives. The goal of this network is nothing short of reshaping Black media, culture, narratives and businesses.

USBC President/CEO Ron Busby said, "USBC Media Network is steadfast in its mission to empower, educate, and deeply engage through a vibrant tapestry of high-quality content spanning lifestyle, travel, urban pop culture, sports, business, entertainment, and political news-each delivered with a dedicated focus on enhancing the art of Black storytelling." He further emphasized the potential this acquisition presents to the more than 257 Black-Owned Media and Broadcast Stations and networks within the USBC-NABOB membership.

The merger between USBC and NABOB has been in the works for several years, with both organizations collaboratively involved in various initiatives. One such initiative included incorporating NABOB's annual Power of Urban Radio Forum into the Chamber's annual conference since 2021.

The acquisition is set to foster collaboration among USBC's 169 global chambers, which collectively represent over 300,000 Black businesses, and the radio, television and digital media entities represented by NABOB across the nation.

The USBC Radio Network, launched in August in the U.S. by the USBC, is already making strides. It initially partnered with KMG Networks for distribution, and there are plans for a distribution partnership with a major global audio distribution network in the works. The network's debut offering, "The Good News," is a daily 60-second radio commentary hosted by civil rights leader Dr. Benjamin F. Chavis, Jr.

This acquisition of NABOB by USBC comes just under three weeks before the 20th annual Power of Urban Radio Forum, scheduled to be held virtually on Thursday, October 15.
