Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chairman Brendan Carr has announced the appointment of key leadership positions across various offices, emphasizing the importance of these roles in advancing the Commission's agenda.

Tom Sullivan has been named the Acting Chief of the Office of International Affairs. Sullivan, a seasoned veteran at the FCC, joined the Commission in 1991 after completing his Master's Degree in Public Policy from the University of Michigan. His previous roles include Deputy Chief of the Bureau he now leads, Chief of the International Bureau, and Chief of Staff for the International Bureau. His experience in international communications policy is expected to guide the office adeptly in an increasingly interconnected world.

Ira Keltz will serve as the Acting Chief Engineer in the Office of Engineering and Technology. Keltz's career at the FCC began in 1994, focusing on spectrum policy issues. Before his current role, he was the Deputy Chief of the Office, with prior management positions in the Office's Policy and Rules Division and Electromagnetic Compatibility Division. Keltz holds a Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering from George Washington University and a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Michigan. His expertise is crucial as the FCC navigates complex technical challenges in communications technology.

Catherine Matraves, known as Kate, has been appointed as the Acting Chief of the Office of Economics and Analytics. Matraves first joined the Commission in 2010, serving in the Wireless Bureau before her recent roles in the newly formed Office of Economics and Analytics. She earned her Doctorate in Economics from the University of East Anglia. Her deep knowledge in telecommunications economics, including merger analysis and spectrum management, will be instrumental in supporting the FCC's regulatory and policy decisions.

Lastly, Katie Gorscak takes on the role of Acting Director of the Office of Media Relations. Gorscak, who has been with the FCC since 2014, transitioned from her role as a Senior Communications Advisor and has a rich background in public affairs, with prior positions at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Holding a Master's Degree in public communication from American University, Gorscak's experience will enhance the FCC's communication initiatives.

Chairman Carr expressed his enthusiasm for the new appointees, stating, "I am grateful that these talented professionals have agreed to step in and serve the FCC in these important roles. I look forward to working with them as we advance the Commission's agenda and deliver great results for the American people."
