Roger Christian Joins WECK/Buffalo for Weekends/Fill-in

Veteran air personality, and Buffalo Broadcasters Association Hall of Famer, Roger Christian joins Oldies WECK/Buffalo as a weekend and fill-in host. He previously spent a whopping 43 years at crosstown Hot AC WTSS-FM (Star 102.5)/Buffalo, handling Music Director duties, afternoons, middays and mornings throughout his tenure there. Christian will also play music for wedding receptions, class reunions, retirement parties and other events for a new venture, "WECK Music Road Show with Roger Christian."

"To say I am thrilled would be an understatement," said GM Buddy Shula. "Roger is one of the most talented and respected broadcasters in Buffalo. I admire what Roger has accomplished not only in his broadcast career, but also as a human being. He is just a terrific person. Simple as that."

He added, "Roger Christian DJ'd my own wedding eight years ago, so I figured this was a no-brainer. "There is no better mobile DJ than Roger."

Christian's radio career began to blossom in 1970 as he was the overnight personality at WYSL radio. He then became Music Director at WGRQ (now 97 Rock), until landing at the frequency where he would spend the next 43 years, 102.5. In 1976, during the infancy of FM radio, he became morning personality at "Stereo Rock", Rock 102. That would begin a 43-year reign at the very same frequency, until recently.

"It took so long to get back on the air again" Christian joked. "I appreciate the incredible career I have had, and the listeners who have always been there for me, along with the tremendous support I have always had from management in every company I have worked for."
