KDKA-AM/Pittsburgh morning co-host John Shumway exited the Entercom News/Talk outlet after his show on Wednesday. He plans to concentrate on his work as a general assignment reporter at KDKA-TV. Shumway had been with the station for the past 15 years, co-hosting the "KDKA Morning News." He began his broadcasting career in 1978 as an air talent for WLAP/Lexington, KY, after earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism from Eastern Kentucky University. In 1979, Shumway moved to WHAS/Louisville, Kentucky. He joined KDKA-TV in October, 1988 as a General Assignment Reporter.

Entercom/Pittsburgh Senior VP Michael Spacciapolli said in a statement, "His tireless work ethic and news judgment has been a cornerstone of KDKA radio mornings. His integrity is unquestionable. Simply put, John is one the most gifted, well-respected journalists in our city. I want to personally thank John for his tireless work over the years with us, it has been an honor to work alongside him."
