Report: Spokane Sports Radio Duo Sign Off for Last Time
RADIO ONLINE | Monday, April 6, 2020 |
Long-running Sports/Talk hosts Patchin and Lukens (Dennis Patchin and Rick Lukens) signed off from KXLY-AM (700 ESPN)/Spokane, WA, for the final time Friday night reports Spokesman Review's Vince Grippi. The show originated in 1986 at KXLY-TV when sports veterans Dennis Patchin, Rick Lukens and Bud Nameck, joined by local broadcaster Chuck DeBruin, began "Sports Tonight." Patchin, who started at KXLY in 1984, moved from TV to radio fulltime in 2009 and has been a fixture in weekday afternoons ever since.
Grippi wrote that -- in different stretches -- Julie Scott, now a University of Idaho media instructor, Keith Osso, KXLY's current sports director, and Lukens, a Spokane radio and TV fixture since 1983, joined Patchin on the show. Patchin and Lukens were the last locally produced Sports/Talk radio hosts in Spokane.
