News/Talk WLS-AM/Chicago adds a sports/talk program hosted by news anchor and sports reporter Rob Martier, weekdays from 7-9pm, reports Chicago media columnist Robert Feder. Martier joined WLS as evening news anchor in 2018 and later became host of the Fighting Illini football broadcasts and the weekly "Drive Chicago" automotive show. He previously worked at Nexstar Media's News/Talk WGN-AM and Chicago Public Media's WBEZ-FM.
"I am truly looking forward to Rob's extensive sports background and broadcasting talents as he assumes this new opportunity," wrote Cumulus Chicago VP/Market Manager Marv Nyren in an email to its staff.
The move follows the exit of evening host Jenniffer Weigel last week.
"We thank Jen for her contributions to WLS-AM as she brought her unique Chicago sensibility to the airwaves each evening. We wish her well as Jen has decided to go in another direction," added Nyren.
