After 47 years between radio and a short stint in television, Larry Dowdy of Lynchburg, VA is calling it a career. Yesterday (Thursday) marked the end of his morning show duties at WLNI News Talk Radio 105.9. It's a job he says he's wanted from the age of 12 and his long career spanned working in Top 40 radio, country radio, television and finally, news talk radio.
"I'm gonna sit in the back seat for a while and just enjoy and just do anything I want," said Dowdy.
Kenny Shelton, WLNI Program Director and Dowdy's morning show co-host said, "When I started working with him, I just realized what a great talent he is, what a great person he is. The way he goes about doing this job is a great lesson to anybody in the business as far as show prep that he does and just his knowledge of things."
Dowdy says he'll still have some room for a little podcasting and occasional commercial voiceovers, but is also looking forward to retirement.
