MPR News Welcomes Adame as Report for America Journalist

Reporter Vicki Adame joins MPR News as the newsroom's Report for America journalist, focusing on the coverage of Minnesota's Latino communities. Adame is a member of the 2021-2022 reporter corps with Report for America, a national service reporting program that places journalists nationally to meet an identified need in coverage. She'll serve a one-year term in the MPR newsroom, beginning Tuesday, with an opportunity to continue for a second year.

A multimedia journalist, Adame has experience reporting on communities of color, including Latino communities in California and Washington. A two-time recipient of the C.B. Blethen Memorial Award for Distinguished Coverage of Diversity, Adame is fluent in Spanish and has had work published in outlets including Palabra, Latino Rebels, Latino USA and CTLatinoNews.

MPR News was named a host newsroom with Report for America in December, stating in its application the goal of expanding coverage and building stronger relationships with Minnesota's growing Latino communities. Adame's beat will include coverage of Latino communities across the state. She'll be based in St. Paul, with frequent statewide travel to reach Latino communities in both the Twin Cities and Greater Minnesota.

"I hope to be able to tell the stories of Latinos in Minnesota and by doing so, bring about a better understanding of this vibrant and rapidly growing community.
