News KOGO-AM (600) San Diego will debut "Slater & Lou" weekdays from 5-7pm, beginning September 1. The program will be co-hosted by conservative talk show hosts Mike Slater (pictured left) and Lou Penrose. The duo will join forces for a fast-paced, news driven, talk program for San Diegans that will focus on the day's top stories both local and national.
"Mike and Lou represent a fresh approach to talk radio," said iHeartMedia San Diego Director of News and Sports Programming Brian Long. "Joining KOGO's line-up on the drive home next to 'champion of government reform,' Carl DeMaio will provide the show with a great forum to deliver their unique perspectives to the KOGO audience."
Slater is a graduate of Yale University, where he majored in history. He has been a voice on AM 760 since January, 2011 and also hosts "True Story with Mike Slater" on The First TV Network. He's also a frequent guest on FOX News and FOX Business. Slater has filled in for Glenn Beck on his radio and TV shows and been a guest-host of the "Dr. Drew Show" on CNN Headline News.
"What a joy it's been to raise my family in San Diego and spend the last 11 years connecting with an incredible audience on AM 760," said Slater. "I am grateful for such loyal listeners and look forward to having them join me on KOGO. Partnering with Lou is a dream come true."
Penrose has been a host on KOGO since August, 2019. In addition to his on-air role, Penrose runs a full-service government relations and public affairs consulting firm. He has served as District Chief of Staff for multiple members of U.S. Congress, including John Campbell, Ed Royce and Mary Bono. His broadcast career includes hosting radio talk shows. As Director of News and Talk Programming for Morris Media's KNWZ (KNEWS Radio) in Palm Springs, Penrose and his team won three Golden Mic Awards from the Radio & Television News Association of Southern California.
Penrose said, "I have known Mike and have been a fan of his radio show for years. The opportunity to work with him in bringing San Diego our shared insight on the day's top news stories is very exciting."
