WAPE/Jacksonville launches "The Dex and Barbie T Morning Show," starting February 6 at 6am hosted by Dex Mitchell and Barbie T Whitmire. Prior to joining WHZT, Mitchell had previous stops at Hot AC WOXL (Mix 96.5) in Asheville, Rock WKRL, WKLL and WKRH (K-Rock)/Syracuse-Utica, NY as well as Rock WTPT (Planet Radio 93.3)/Greenville. Whitmore dedicated her entire ten-year radio career to WHZT, previously hosting mornings with Tone Hollywood and Mike Klein prior to Mitchell's arrival.

"Dex and Barbie T are a fantastic addition to the Jacksonville market," said Director of Branding and Programming Jud Heussler. "I know our listeners will love the energy and chemistry that these two bring to will bring to WAPE every morning."

Mitchell and Whitmire have been hosting mornings together since July, 2017, where they started at Hot 98.1 WHZT in Williamston, SC. By 2019, the show was syndicated to Knoxville. In this time, Whitmire hosted middays at WHZT, while Mitchell also tracked afternoons at Hot AC WPYA (Mix 97.3)/Birmingham and previously co-hosted a second morning show at KPHW (Power 104.3)/Honolulu with Candace Kay from 2020 through January, 2022.
