WMGK-FM/Philadelphia Announces New Morning Show

WMGK-FM/Philadelphia taps longtime market vet Matt Cord as the new host of the Classic Rock outlet's new morning program, "The Matt Cord Show with Steve Vassalotti." The show will debut on Tuesday, September 5 and air weekdays from 6-10am. Cord, who recently served as the midday host at the station, will be joined by former John DeBella Show producer and co-host Steve Vassalotti.

In addition to working at WMGK, Cord's experience includes working as the morning host on WBEN-FM, afternoon personality of the former Y100 and afternoon and evening talent on WMMR-FM.

"I'm honored and grateful for the opportunity to host mornings on 'MGK," said Cord. "It goes without saying John DeBella is a tough act to follow. I'm excited to have Steve as my co-host as our friendship goes back to his intern days."

Vassalotti joined "The John DeBella Show" in 2017 as a parttime board operator and has risen to the role of full-time producer and co-host. "I'm excited to be teaming up with my friend, and someone I consider one of the smoothest air-talents around. And it's nice to continue the tradition of balding morning hosts here at MGK," said Vassalotti.

"This is one of the most obvious hires I've made," added WMGK Program Director Bill Weston. "Having Matt's market experience and music knowledge plus his easy-going nature with the added producing chops and additional perspective that Steve brings to the conversation is just a terrific pairing."
