WLS-AM/Chicago afternoon host John Howell exits after eight years with the station. Howell joined the Cumulus News/Talk outlet in January, 2015 hosting mornings before moving to the 5-7pm in 2018. He most recently aired in the 3-6pm slot. Howell began his career in the Windy City in 1988 in music radio before shifting to News/Talk in 2006 at WIND (AM 560 The Answer).

In a Facebook post, WLS wrote, "Yesterday was John Howell's last show on The Big 89. He has been a staple of 890 WLS for over a decade. His wit, political prowess, and focus on Chicago conversations has given our audience a destination for smart, local radio in the afternoons. Thank you, John, for being a part of the fabric of The Big 89."
