WGH-FM (97.3 The Eagle) in Norfolk adds veteran radio talent Steve Waters to mornings. Effective Monday, September 23rd, he'll team with the Eagle's Assistant Program Director and Music Director and 30-year market veteran Karen West to create the station's new morning show, "Eagle Morning's with Steve & Karen." Waters career started in Harrisonburg, VA with WACL followed by stops at WNKT, WSSX and WTWF in Charleston, SC. For the past 13 years, he's woke up Fredericksburg, VA as the morning host for Alpha Media's WFLS.
"My wife and I are thrilled to be moving to the beach and joining the team at 97.3 The Eagle. To live where we vacation, and to be a part of a heritage station with such a rich history, is simply incredible," said Waters.
Throughout his career, Waters has been nominated and won many awards, including a 3-time nominee and 2018 winner of the Country Music Association's Personality of the Year, a 2-time winner of the Academy of Country Music Personality of the Year and a three-time recipient of the Virginia Association of Broadcasters Best radio Personality of the Year Award.
Max Media of Hampton Roads Operations Manager Jay West stated, "Steve is a superb edition to pair with Eagle staple Karen West in mornings. His award-winning Country radio success and approach to entertaining audiences is a most welcome addition to this already legendary station WGH-FM."
Vice President and Market Manager Keith Barton remarked, "We are thrilled to welcome Steve to the Max Media family as our new morning show co-host. We can't wait for our listeners to start their day with Steve and Karen on The Eagle."
