After decades of waking up listeners across the Finger Lakes, longtime WQNY (103.7 Q Country)/Ithaca, NY morning host Chris Allinger has announced his retirement. His final broadcast will air Friday, August 29, marking the end of an era for one of the region's most enduring and beloved radio personalities.
Allinger has been a mainstay on Ithaca airwaves, known not only for playing Country music but also for his deep connection to the community. Throughout his career, he has become a familiar voice offering warmth, humor, and charitable leadership to thousands of morning routines. He retires alongside his wife Brigid, with whom he now looks forward to the next chapter.
To fill the morning slot, 103.7 Q Country will debut the Bobby Bones Show beginning Monday, September 1. Already a familiar name to the station's audience through his Country Top 30 Countdown on weekends, Bones will bring his syndicated mix of today's Country hits, artist interviews, and conversation to weekday mornings in Ithaca.
"We are all happy for Chris and his wife Brigid who are both retiring at the same time, and excited to have great morning radio continue with Bobby Bones," said Cayuga Media Group President and General Manager Chet Osadchey. "He brings the highest level of country music, entertainment, and excitement to radio and it will be a great success on 103.7 Q Country in Ithaca."
