Costa Media has expanded its Washington, D.C. programming with the addition of El Cotorreo with DJ Chicano & DJ Scorpion to WDCN (Que Onnda 87.7 FM). The show airs weekdays from 4-8pm, blending humor, high-energy music, and timely updates for listeners across the DMV.
Featuring the quick wit of DJ Chicano and DJ Scorpion, El Cotorreo mixes playful banter with breaking news, sports, traffic reports, and upbeat music. Gerardo Lopez, President of Programming for Costa Media, said the show is a natural fit for the company's mission.
"We are thrilled to welcome DJ Chicano and DJ Scorpion to Nueva Network and the Que Onnda family," Lopez said. "Their chemistry, humor, and authentic connection with listeners make El Cotorreo the perfect addition to our Washington D.C. roster. This launch reaffirms our commitment to delivering the most engaging, culturally resonant audio programming for U.S. Latinos."
DJ Chicano (Briand Morales), a Takoma Park native of Mexican and Peruvian heritage, studied Broadcast Media Production at Montgomery College and earned a degree in Electronic Media and Film from Towson University. Rising from intern to on-air personality, he helped his previous afternoon show reach top ratings in the market.
DJ Scorpion (Jose Antonio Alarcon), originally from Yanga, Veracruz, has been a DJ since 2001 and joined radio in 2013. Known for his street-smart humor and relatability, he has built strong loyalty among listeners. A devoted family man and passionate Chivas fan, Scorpion brings charisma and authenticity to every broadcast.
