iHeartMedia's KFI AM 640 in Los Angeles will debut a revamped weekday lineup beginning February 17, highlighted by John Kobylt's return to afternoon drive. Kobylt moves into the 3-6pm slot, a daypart he previously dominated as part of the long-running "John & Ken Show."
Tim Conway Jr. will transition to evenings, taking over from 6-10pm. His move marks a return to the evening talk format, where he has previously built a loyal following.
In middays, Chris Merrill and Michael Monks will team for the launch of "Monks & Merrill." Merrill is a longtime KFI host and contributor, while Monks is known to listeners as an award-winning senior reporter and host for KFI News. The station says the new program will combine entertainment with in-depth discussion of issues impacting Southern California.
Paul Corvino, Division President for iHeartMedia Los Angeles, called the changes a continuation of KFI's "tradition built on excellence," adding that the addition of Merrill and Monks strengthens the station's talent roster for both advertisers and listeners.
Program Director Brian Long described the lineup adjustment as a "homerun" for listeners, noting that the station's weekday schedule now runs from "Wake-Up Call" through Bill Handel, Gary & Shannon, the KFI News team, the new "Monks & Merrill" show, Kobylt in afternoons and Conway in evenings.
