WGTS-FM in Washington, DC, has named Summer Shepherd as the Contemporary Christian outlet's new afternoon drive host, effective March 23. Shepherd has nearly 15 years of radio experience and has spent the past three years co-hosting mornings with Jerry Woods, serving listeners across the Washington, DC metro area. Her move marks a return to afternoons, a daypart she previously hosted earlier in her career at several stations.
"For a decade afternoons were my home, at a variety of stations," Shepherd said. "I'm excited to revisit that slot and craft something fresh that connects with this amazing community of listeners, reminding them that they're loved and not alone. I also look forward to sleeping in a bit. Not gonna lie."
WGTS Program Director Brennan Wimbish said Shepherd's ability to engage with the station's audience makes her a natural fit for the afternoon drive position.
"Summer has a unique ability to connect with listeners in a meaningful faith-filled way," Wimbish said. "I'm excited to see her bring that same encouragement and presence to our afternoon drive listeners."
