Longtime WSOC-FM morning personalities Rob Tanner, Catherine Lane and Chris Allen will retire from their day-to-day roles following a 22-year run on the station's "Tanner in the Morning" show. The trio's final broadcast is scheduled for Friday, June 19.
The morning show has been a fixture on Country 103.7 in Charlotte for more than two decades, building a strong following across the Carolinas through a mix of country music, humor and community-focused conversation.
Mac Edwards said the team helped establish one of the market's most recognized radio brands. "Tanner, Catherine, and Chris have been an important part of the fabric of Country 103.7 and the Charlotte area since the very beginning," Edwards said. "With over 18 ACM and CMA nominations, their impact on the station, the market and Country Music has been tremendous."
Justin Chase credited the show's longevity to the connection it built with listeners throughout the region. "Their genuine energy, natural chemistry, and strong connection with the community made mornings on WSOC-FM feel truly unforgettable," Chase said.
Program Director Cameron Moore said the show became a daily tradition for generations of listeners. "What began as a radio show all those years ago has become a daily tradition shared with generations of listeners," Moore said.
Tanner reflected on the show's success and longevity, calling it "the longest running and most successful morning show in the history of WSOC-FM." "Charlotte and the Carolinas welcomed us like family, and I'll always be grateful for the friendships, memories, and incredible experiences along the way," Tanner said.
Lane, who also hosted middays on Country 103.7 for 27 years, said she hopes to spend more time working in suicide prevention efforts following retirement.
Between "Tanner in the Morning" and "The Catherine Lane Show," the team earned 17 ACM and CMA Award nominations and won two ACM Awards.
Allen said being part of the station he grew up listening to was "truly been a blessing in my life."
Longtime traffic reporter and contributor Captain Jim will remain with Beasley Media Group and continue providing morning traffic reports across the company's stations.
The station said details regarding a future morning lineup for Country 103.7 will be announced at a later date.
