WPEN (97.5 The Fanatic) Philadelphia has announced that longtime sports radio host John Kincade will leave the station's morning show at the end of July. Kincade's final broadcast on the "Kincade & Salciunas Morning Show" will air on Friday, July 31. Following his departure, Andrew Salciunas will continue hosting the weekday morning program from 6-10am.
Kincade returned to his hometown of Philadelphia in 2021 to join The Fanatic and quickly became a central figure in the station's lineup. Known for his extensive sports knowledge and strong connection with local fans, he has hosted mornings while also contributing digital content covering the Eagles, Phillies, Sixers, and Flyers.
"John has brought tremendous passion, professionalism, and authenticity to our morning show and to the Philadelphia sports community," said Scott Masteller, Program Director of 97.5 The Fanatic. "He's been an important part of the station's success, and we're grateful for everything he has contributed both on the air and behind the scenes."
Paul Blake, Vice President and Market Manager of Beasley Media Group Philadelphia, credited Kincade with helping strengthen the station's morning franchise and building strong relationships with listeners, advertisers, and staff.
In announcing his decision, Kincade said the move follows considerable reflection after his battle with cancer and discussions about his future with his family.
"After a great deal of thought, I've decided that this summer will be the right time for me to step away from mornings at The Fanatic," Kincade said. "This decision comes after a lot of reflection following my cancer battle and thinking carefully about what's best for me and my family moving forward."
Kincade emphasized that he is not retiring and plans to pursue new professional opportunities in the future.
"I'm proud of what we've built on the morning show and very confident in the future of The Fanatic," he said. "There's a tremendous team here both on-air and behind the scenes."
