96.1 WBBB/Raleigh-Durham has named veteran broadcaster Christy Brittain as its new afternoon personality, adding a familiar voice with deep North Carolina radio roots to the station's on-air lineup. A Tennessee native, Brittain began her radio career at age 17 and has since worked in several markets including Greensboro-Winston Salem, Raleigh and Riverside-San Bernardino.
"We are thrilled to welcome Christy to the 96.1 BBB team," said Program Director Sammy Simpson. "Her experience, authenticity, and passion for connecting with listeners make her a perfect fit for us. Christy understands what great radio is all about, creating meaningful relationships with audiences while delivering entertaining, engaging content every day."
Brittain said returning to North Carolina radio was an opportunity she was eager to embrace. "I couldn't be more excited to join 96.1 BBB and reconnect with listeners in North Carolina," she said. "Radio has always been about companionship and community, and I look forward to spending afternoons with the incredible people of the Triangle."
Reflecting on her career, Brittain noted that her enthusiasm for broadcasting remains as strong as ever. "I was 17 years old when the radio bug hit me," she said, "and I still love doing it."
