Connoisseur Media has promoted James Johnson to weeknight host on KCLB in Palm Springs, CA, effective Monday, August 3. Johnson, who currently serves as the cluster's Promotions and Marketing Director, will continue in that role while adding weeknight on-air responsibilities at the Coachella Valley Rock outlet.

A Coachella Valley native, Johnson began his broadcasting career after performing for years as lead singer and guitarist of the local indie rock band BROSQUITOS. The company said his live performance background has helped shape the energetic style he brings to radio, community events, and station promotions.

"I grew up in the Coachella Valley," Johnson said. "Now I get to be part of the soundtrack for the place that raised me."

Regional Vice President Sommer Frisk said Johnson has earned the expanded role through his work in the market.

"James has already become a trusted voice in the Coachella Valley music scene, and this promotion is long overdue," Frisk said. "When you invest in great local people, great things happen."

Market Manager Todd Coyle said Johnson's creativity, passion for music, and on-air talent made him the natural choice for the position.

"He's already proven he's an outstanding leader in promotions and marketing," Coyle said. "Just as importantly, James has an incredible passion for music and is a natural behind the microphone. He has the personality, talent, and work ethic to make a real connection with our listeners."

In his expanded role, Johnson will host weeknights on KCLB while continuing to oversee promotional and marketing efforts for Connoisseur Media's Palm Springs cluster.
