Veteran Washington, DC sports radio personality Andy Pollin has exited WSBN-AM (ESPN 630) as part of the latest round of layoffs at Cumulus Media.
Pollin had been with ESPN 630 since 2019, initially joining the station as a Sports Update Anchor during ESPN Radio's "Golic & Wingo" and as a features correspondent. He later moved into a weekday 9-11am hosting role.
"As I often say, 'in this business, you don't retire, they retire you.' Cumulus just did that to me," Pollin wrote on X. "I'm open to opportunities, but sadly that's unlikely at my stage of the game. I'm thankful for the last 7 years at 630 and look forward to what's next."
The move ends Pollin's latest seven-year run in Washington sports radio and comes amid broader cutbacks at Cumulus affecting employees in multiple markets and divisions.
Pollin was part of the original staff of WFAN/New York when the nation's first all-sports radio station launched in 1987. After early career stops in Texas and New York, he returned to his hometown of Washington in 1992 and helped launch all-sports WTEM.
During 25 years as Sports Director at WTEM, Pollin co-hosted "The Sports Reporters" in afternoon drive and spent 14 years working alongside Tony Kornheiser locally and nationally on ESPN Radio. He also served as a pre- and post-game host for Washington's NFL coverage.
Pollin later worked at 106.7 The Fan before joining ESPN 630 in July 2019. No replacement for Pollin at ESPN 630 has been announced.
