KILT-FM (100.3 The Bull) in Houston has named Lois "Double-L" Lewis and Matt Wood co-hosts of its new morning show, "The Morning Bull with Matt & Lois," beginning September 17. The show will air weekdays from 6-10am CT. Lewis joins The Bull from KNIX/Phoenix, where she most recently hosted middays, while Wood arrives after co-hosting the nationally syndicated "Taste of Country Mornings" from Nashville.
"I am so excited about the pairing of Matt Wood and Lois Lewis," said KILT Brand Manager Bruce Logan. "Both have had very impressive careers and have set themselves apart from their contemporaries, and when we put them together, the chemistry was almost instantaneous."
Logan said the station's goal was to create "Houston's best morning show," with an emphasis on community involvement and entertainment. "We wanted to build Houston's best morning show, a show that cares about the community and wakes up every morning wanting to make Bull Nation laugh," he added. "The Morning Bull with Matt & Lois is going to change the landscape of Houston mornings."
Lewis brings more than two decades of experience in Country radio and the music industry. She began her career at KNIX/Phoenix before moving to KIIM-FM/Tucson. She later spent seven years with Big Machine Label Group/Republic Nashville, where she was involved in the development of acts including Florida Georgia Line, The Band Perry and Eli Young Band.
Lewis returned to radio at 95.5 The Bull/Las Vegas in 2016 before returning to KNIX in 2017. She is a CMA and ACM Major Market Personality of the Year winner.
"They say everything's bigger in Texas, and my first conversation with Matt Wood proved it," Lewis said. "Our very first FaceTime lasted two hours and 14 minutes, with big energy and morning-show chemistry right outta the chute."
Wood's broadcasting career has included sports journalism, morning radio and national syndication. He began at WQXI/Atlanta covering the city's major sports teams before moving to Minnesota, where he served as Sports Director at KNSI and co-hosted the syndicated "Kelly & Wood" from KZPK.
"I could not be more excited to be joining The Bull in Houston," Wood said. "Getting the chance to work with this team is a dream come true. Coming in every day and learning from Bruce and Chris, alongside Lois in the mornings, is about as perfect a situation as anyone could ask for."
