Mary Louise Kelly is stepping down as co-host of NPR's "All Things Considered" and host of the network's "Sources & Methods" podcast after more than eight years in the ATC anchor chair. The week of November 2 will be Kelly's final week as co-host of "All Things Considered," while she will sign off from "Sources & Methods" with its November 12 episode. NPR investigations correspondent Sacha Pfeiffer will serve as acting host of ATC following Kelly's departure.
Kelly said she will remain with NPR and continue contributing interviews while stepping away from her regular hosting responsibilities.
"I'm stepping down as host of All Things Considered and Sources & Methods," Kelly wrote on social media. "25 years since I first set foot in this newsroom! I'll continue to contribute interviews. NPR remains a place where I can do the kind of work I came to journalism to do. Now, on to the next adventure."
Kelly joined NPR in 2001 as a senior supervising editor for "All Things Considered." She later served as the network's national security correspondent before becoming an ATC co-host in 2018, succeeding Robert Siegel.
During her tenure, Kelly covered major stories around the world and interviewed presidents, prime ministers and other newsmakers. She said some of her most memorable assignments involved ordinary people caught up in major events, including wars, elections, protests and peace negotiations.
Kelly said she plans to take some time away from the daily news cycle before deciding on her next chapter.
