Radio One's KKBQ-FM (93Q) in Houston has named Mason Pradt its new midday host, airing weekdays from 10am-3pm. The promotion marks another step in Pradt's career at the Country outlet, where he began working more than a decade ago. A Houston native, Pradt joined 93Q in 2014 as a promotions assistant and has since held several positions, including part-time air personality, evening host and producer.
"Mason is a Houstonian through and through, and you can hear it every time he's on the air," said 93Q Program Director Travis Moon. "He talks to listeners like a neighbor, because he is one. We're really proud of him and excited to hear middays on 93Q shine even brighter."
Pradt said the opportunity to host middays at a station he grew up listening to is particularly meaningful.
"Growing up in Houston, 93Q was always one of those stations I had on the radio, so getting the opportunity to be part of it in this way is pretty surreal," said Pradt. "I started here as a promotions assistant back in 2014, and to now have the chance to be on the air every day at a station that's meant so much to me and to this city is incredibly special."
Pradt also expressed appreciation for his colleagues and thanked Moon, Doug Abernathy and the Radio One management team for their support.
His new midday assignment continues a career spent entirely within the Houston station's operations, from promotions and production to a full-time weekday airshift.
