GatesAir Strengthens Global Sales Team

GatesAir has announced three key sales team appointments in the CALA (Caribbean and Latin America), EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) and Asia-Pacific (APAC) regions, reinforcing its commitment to customer intimacy worldwide.

"GatesAir's main international initiative has been to establish a stronger global presence, and that strategy included hiring experienced resources with a regional presence that would bring us closer to our customers," said Rich Redmond, President and Managing Director, International, GatesAir. "With a stronger global foundation now in place, we continue to invest in the right talent with the appropriate skillsets that will help broadcasters navigate challenging digital transitions, and develop new business opportunities for over-the-air content delivery."

Antonio Satta joins GatesAir's CALA team as Sales Director, Brazil. Reporting to Felipe Luna, GatesAir's Managing Director, CALA region, Satta brings nearly 15 years of broadcast and telecommunications experience to his new role. He has been with Screen Service Broadcasting Technologies for the past 11 years, most of which were spent in Brazil as Managing Director. His experience navigating the complex Brazilian market, long-term in-country business relationships, and knowledge of the international transmission market position Satta for success in growing GatesAir's market share. In addition to direct end customer relationships, Satta will work closely with Foccus Digital, GatesAir's long-time Brazilian partner. He anticipates "two key growth paths" for GatesAir, including the opportunity for ISDB-Tb digital TV conversions in more than 4,000 cities through 2023; and refreshing aging TV and FM radio infrastructure with high-efficiency GatesAir transmitters. Satta adds that GatesAir's nearly 100-year history, broad product portfolio and established reputation for reliability - along with continued investment in regional resources - will contribute to his success at GatesAir.

Matt Smith joins GatesAir's EMEA team as Regional Sales Director, covering a diverse geography across western Europe, the Nordics and southern Africa. Reporting to Andy McClelland, GatesAir's Managing Director, EMEA, Smith brings more than 15 years of industry experience to GatesAir. He held roles of increasing responsibility over his years at Envivio and Harmonic, where he most recently served as Director, Key Accounts for the UK and Ireland. Over his career, Smith has developed an extensive global network of strong industry relationships with broadcasters and other TV service providers that he looks forward to leveraging at GatesAir. Smith will focus on business growth and managing go-to-market initiatives across nearly 30 countries, with an added goal of strengthen GatesAir's partner network and reseller base throughout his territory. Smith emphasizes that his background in systems engineering and support provides him with a broad and detailed knowledge of the broadcast workflow, from studio-based production through to transmission. He looks forward to helping broadcasters implement digital TV and DAB Radio systems that balance exceptional technical performance with long-term operational efficiency.

Oscar Hu joins GatesAir's APAC team as Regional Sales Manager, Southeast Asia, Reporting to Jacky Yee, GatesAir's Head of Sales, APAC, Hu will focus on raising GatesAir's visibility and market share across most of Southeast Asia (and parts of East Asia and Micronesia), including Cambodia, Indonesia, Japan, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. Hu brings nearly 15 years of broadcast industry experience to his new position, and most recently served as Sales Manager for Digital Broadcast Asia Pacific. Oscar has spent much of his career focused on over-the-air broadcast, and has been active in DVB-T2 and DVB-S product and standards development.

Hu looks forward to working with regional customers and GatesAir partners, and leveraging his extensive experience in the sales and technical integration TV and FM radio transmission systems to accelerate business throughout his territory. He notes that many countries in his region continue to operate analog broadcast systems, and sees tremendous opportunity to prepare customers for future digital transitions through training and education initiatives, as well as familiarizing broadcasters with GatesAir's broad range of digital transmission solutions.

"The collective industry experience of nearly 50 years between all three appointments will only add to the global business momentum and long-term success of GatesAir," said Redmond. "We welcome Antonio, Matt and Oscar to the GatesAir team, effective immediately."
