Report: Veteran Personality Gil Bailey Dies from COVID-19

Sad to report that veteran radio personality Gil Bailey has died in New York, due to the coronavirus, reports Buzz-Caribbean.com. Known as the Godfather, Bailey launched "The Gil Bailey Show" in New York in 1969. He and his wife Pat co-hosted that program on Caribbean stations such as WHBI, WNWK and WPAT, catering to listeners in the tri-state region, including New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.
His show aired reggae, calypso, soca and gospel. His wife Pat, whom he married in 1969, died in December, 2016 at age 77.
Bailey, who is credited with paving the way for many of those in radio in New York, was awarded the Order of Distinction by the Jamaican Government.
