Award-winning Washington DC-based radio journalist Jamie Dupree, who is also heard on WSB-AM/Atlanta, is exiting Cox Media Group after 30 years with the company, reports Atlanta Journal-Constitution's Rodney Ho. Dupree, 57, has provided political coverage for multiple CMG radio and TV outlets, covering Congress and presidents from George H.W. Bush to Donald Trump. However, Dupree lost his voice in 2016 and was diagnosed with tongue protrusion dystonia, a rare neurological condition with no cure to date.
"I am looking for work," Dupree wrote on Facebook. "I had a great run, working with fantastic colleagues at our radio and TV stations. I may not be able to speak, but I can still report."
His journey has been recognized by the Radio Television Digital News Association (RTNDA) and Atlanta Press Club, earning WSB and Cox Media Group an Edward R. Murrow Award for Excellence in Innovation and News Innovation Award.
