The American Urban Radio Networks (AURN) has named Ebony McMorris to serve as its White House news correspondent. McMorris is an accomplished, award-winning journalist whose media career in television and network radio span 20 years. She joins AURN from Reach Media/Urban One where she most recently served as their National News Correspondent. She previously held positions as assignment editor for NBC Channel 4 in Washington, DC and served as a researcher for The Chris Matthews Show.

McMorris brings a wealth of audio, video and digital news experience, enabling her to pinpoint relevant information that impacts the Black community. She will deliver high quality content for distribution on multi-level news platforms for AURN's nationwide radio affiliates, AURN.com, @aurnonline social media platforms, and AURN Podcast Network.

"For such a time as this, it is an honor to join the AURN family as their White House Correspondent during such a pivotal and monumental point in history," said McMorris. "In taking this role I am reminded of Alice Dunnigan, the first African American woman to receive White House credentials. who said ‘While the role of the Black press is that of objectively reporting the news as it happens, it has another function equally as important - that of fighting oppression.'"

Ebony is a native of Washington, D.C. and University of South Carolina alumna. Her passion is mentoring young adults by teaching community empowerment and media education. She is a board member of the Thurgood Marshall Center and was presented the President's Lifetime Achievement Award for contributing more than 4,000 hours of community service under the Obama Administration.

"We are excited to have Ebony join our AURN team and expand our vision by creating and executing real news that reflect the challenges and triumphs in our society. Her presence on Capitol Hill helps capture the drum beat of our political arena," states Adriane Gaines, AURN's SVP, Programming.

For over four decades AURN has been the only Black-owned radio company to maintain a bureau in the West Wing of the White House.
