New South Radio of Jackson, MS launched their brand new signal and the market's newest format on July 14 as "102-1 The Box" debuted commercial free, playing 10,000 songs in-a-row on W271DF.
"Central Mississippi has been in dire need of a Classic R&B ‘party' station," said Market Manager, Bob Lawrence. "We will be playing everything from Motown right up through the 90s; the core of which is 80s. You'll hear Classics from the Temps, Emotions, Janet Jackson, SNAP, Naughty By Nature, and so much more!"
Program Director Tyrone Davis adds, "I am thrilled to be a part of this exciting new format on our brand new radio station. The music crosses all demos and may end up being the most fun I've ever had programming a radio station." For you techies - the station is now married to WIIN AM780, which was formerly simulcasting The Blues, which can now be heard on WHJT-HD2 and 93-1FM.
