Former Long Island GM Sentenced to 15 Months

Former Long Island Radio General Manager Stephanie McNamara Bitis has been sentenced to 15 months in jail after racking up hundreds of thousands of dollars in personal expenses on the company credit card, including a vacation to Aruba. Bitis served as the GM for Long Island Radio Broadcasting from 2015- 2017.
Earlier this year she agreed to pay $302,585 in restitution to the station after admitting to charging over 600 personal expenses on the station's American Express card. Some of those charges included orthodontist visits, family vacations and tax services for delinquent personal income tax payments.
Bitis apologized - tearfully at one point - in a statement to the court before sentencing.
"Because of the tremendous mistake I made, 58 years of any good I've done has been totally erased and this defines me, your honor," Bitis said. "I'm sorry we're all here. I apologize for the time and expense of everyone involved." She was also sentenced to one year of supervised release.
