Radio talk host, businesswoman and former Miss Black Texas Nicole Barrett, who hosted "The Nicole Barrett Show" on KLIF-AM/Dallas, died on August 10 after suffering an aneurysm. She was only 46. Barrett also reported for Elite News in Dallas and previously interviewed actors Diahann Carroll, Larry Hagman and Debbie Reynolds. Barrett was the first Black woman to own a cigar company, Kinky Friedman Cigars.
"She was a triple threat... loving, tough, and funny all in one," a close friend, Dallas event planner Steve Kemble, told Dallas CultureMap. "Nicole Barrett inspired so many, loved so deeply, and lived so loudly that no one will ever forget her."
She is survived by her mother, Linda Barrett, and a number of family members and friends.
