WNDB FM93.5/AM 1150 in Daytona Beach has announced that their longtime conservative talk show host Marc Bernier has died of COVID-19 after a three-week battle with the disease. Bernier was 65 and dubbed himself "Mr. Anti-Vax" on the air.
Last December Bernier announced on the air that he was not getting the vaccine - "ever." In his final tweet, sent on July 30, he compared the vaccination and virus mitigation efforts to Nazi Germany.
WNDB confirmed Bernier's death on Saturday. Station Operations Director Mark McKinney reportedly told the Daytona Beach News-Journal that he wasn't sure if Bernier was vaccinated but noted: "If you've listened to his show, you've heard him talk about how anti-vaccine he is on the air."
Bernier had worked at the station for over 30 years and had a 46-year career as a broadcast journalist.
